Island Fever

Olá gente! I live on an island!!!!!!! Whaaaattt!!!! I love this place SO STINKING MUCH already! Sister Noble and I get along really well and we are both super pumped to be here and get working! I am grateful to be with her! She has a fire for the missionary work and an excitement and desire to be creative and work hard! I will be honest, I was s starting to feel just a little burned out, but the minute I stepped foot on the island I felt a new energy! I feel like a greenie again! Ready to work! But a greenie with a little experience and a decent Portuguese vocabulary. Lol.

Our first day on the island was kind of a mess. We got locked out of our house (the lock was broken!) our power went out twice and an electrician had to come fix it. And there was a glitch with the technology app the church uses to monitor the apps we use and it was deleting all of our apps (apparently it was a problem world wide! We got everything back though so it's fine). We got a tour of the city with the senior couple here and that was about it.

The next day we learned about the power of muffins! We packed some muffins up all cute with notes and took them to our neighbors and WOW muffins really keep the door open and soften people's hearts! People were so nice and happy and a few let us in for a few minutes! The second we ran out of muffins though it was right back to the normal slamming doors and grumpy "no, go away" 's. We are gonna try to think of more "muffin" ideas!

Saturday we got to esplore our city a little bit and it is so beautiful! I am in love!! I don't think I have ever set foot in so charming a place.

Sunday we got to know our members! We were at the chapel nearly all day because of the baptism of a member's son, and a branch movie night! It was so fun and I love them so much already! They are so excited to have sisters again too! (especially because Sister Noble plays the piano and I can lead music haha. We are planning to do an activity to teach people how to lead and play piano. It would be better if the members did it that us!) and we already got invited to two dinners and a birthday party!

In short, I love this island! I feel reinvigorated! I feel like I have come home! Like my whole mission was leading up to these last two transfers on the islands. Preparing me. I am grateful to be here at the end of my time, the accent here is much different and pretty difficult to understand, if I came near the beginning of my mission I would be in trouble! Luckily after a few confusing conversations I am able to understand everyone again. I want one of their accents so bad! It sounds like a Frenchman speaking Portuguese! It's beautiful!

I know this church is true! Among many fellow believers or among few on a remote island, the doctrine of Christ is a doctrine of love and of family. It is not the easiest path to walk. Satan is powerful and his temptations are everywhere. But we are stronger than him. Trust yourself to choose what is right, not what is easy. And when you slip up, try again. Romans 8: 35,39

I love you all!
