Moo moo here

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you felt like it would never end, but then it does and you look back and realize that it actually went pretty fast? That was this week.   I love the island!!!! It is literally paradise. Though it is usually overcast and cloudy, you occasionally get these moments when the sun peaks through. And it doesn't matter where you are, it is always stunning! By the ocean with the sun rays hitting the water or among the green green hills dotted with cows and the sun shines and turns it into a scene from a picture book. Or lost in a maza of narrow streets and the sun fills the small space like a cup and you are dazzled with the beauty of the quaint, old, multi-colored buildings. I have served in some beautiful places on my mission. But we always spent our time in the less beautiful areas. I keep expecting to find one of those less beautiful areas here, but I don't think there is one! And the people! I love them! They are so quirky an...

Island fever - the long version

Image
So after finishing this I realized it is very long, so I am going to send it, but I am going to send a different one to be my actual group email. 😊❤️ Has anyone seen Barbie the Island Princess? Wierd reference I know. But there is a song and she sings something along the lines of "here on my island the sun always glows!" honestly it's been a while, but I can't get that song out of my head these days!  I safely arrived in São Miguel after a day of travel and I truly feel at home on this tiny island in the middle of no where! It is MY island! And though the sun isn't always shining, actually it is usually rainy, I feel sunshine in my soul! We got here Tuesday night. Our flight was fairly uneventful. The office elders forgot our passports so we had to wait for them to get those and my carry-on was too heavy apparently even though I weighed it before and it was fine, but they checked it for free so all is well. We had a little bit of time before our...

Island Fever

Image
Olá gente! I live on an island!!!!!!! Whaaaattt!!!! I love this place SO STINKING MUCH already! Sister Noble and I get along really well and we are both super pumped to be here and get working! I am grateful to be with her! She has a fire for the missionary work and an excitement and desire to be creative and work hard! I will be honest, I was s starting to feel just a little burned out, but the minute I stepped foot on the island I felt a new energy! I feel like a greenie again! Ready to work! But a greenie with a little experience and a decent Portuguese vocabulary. Lol.  Our first day on the island was kind of a mess. We got locked out of our house (the lock was broken!) our power went out twice and an electrician had to come fix it. And there was a glitch with the technology app the church uses to monitor the apps we use and it was deleting all of our apps (apparently it was a problem world wide! We got everything back though so it's fine). We got a tour of the ci...

BANISHED

Image
Well, I don't know what I did wrong but I am being banished for the last few months of my mission. I am being sent off to an island to die. Lol! But to be honest I am PUMPED! I am being transferred to the island of São Miguel in the Açores Islands! We are going to be replacing a set of Elders so we are heading up a whitewash. I will be serving with the Sister my current companion trained! I've heard a lot about her and she sounds really cool and hard working, so it's going to be awesome! I fly over tomorrow. I thought I wasn't going to get on a plane until I was going home, but now I am getting on a plane and going only halfway home 😂 Anyway, in other news. This week was great! We had our last district council on Wednesday and we decided to eat lunch together, so we bought some pizzas and lasagna (is that how you spell it?) from a grocery store but discovered soon after that the oven at the chapel wasn't working. We figured out how to get it going but not ...

I'm moving to a different country this year

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2020!!!! 🎉🎉 I have spent the whole of 2019 on my mission, and I can't think of a better way to spend a year, in the service of the Lord. Our week was a pretty normal missionary week.  I bet you are wondering what we did for new year... Answer.... Nothing!! We were in bed at 11pm. We woke up at midnight took a picture yelled out the window and watched the fireworks for a few minutes. There were so many explosions and sirens and screaming it sounded like a legit air raid... After a particularly loud boom we decided it was time to go back to bed. Kkkk.  Last week we met some cool Brazilian dudes while trying to find some less actives and they came to English class! We gave them both a book of Mormon and one of them, Rafa, said he wanted to come to church. Actually, in his own words, translated by me "I want to go to church more than English class." So on Sunday he shows up on a motorcycle, and sits next to Sister Darnell. I was sitting wit...
