Weekly email!

Image
Ok. I am running out of fun creative ways to start emails. I am also running out of desire to write good emails. Ya know?  So, sorry, but this email might be a little on the lame side. We taught some cool lessons this week, including one with a nice Brazilian family. We worked a lot with members which was awesome! We ate good food. Sister Allred got sick, so we had to spend a day in our house but she was a trouper and recuperated quickly and we were soon out working again! I think most of the cool stuff I have to say is about yesterday!  So Saturday we decided to text as many people in our contact list as we could and invite them to church. Few people answered and none of them said they would be there. But as we were working on it one of our friends called us and we invited her to church! She seemed a little uncertain and asked a bunch of questions. I think she was worried we worship idols or something. And she wanted to go to her other church and wasn't sure if it wa...

If you don't want to read it all feel free to skip to the end! Tuesday - today is transfers! This morning we finished up packing and cleaning the apartment and lugged all of our bags to the bus station. We were worried they wouldn't let us put all our bags on because technically there is a weight limit, but we had no problems! We got to Oriente and then started the frenzy! Transfers are always crazy. All these missionaries saying hi to everyone, old companions, friends, new companions. Getting packages and letters. It was really sad saying goodbye to sister Crowder. I wish I could have stayed with her longer. But my new comp is super cute and sweet, so I am excited to work with her too. The trip up to Porto went very smoothly as well. We just sat on a train for 3 and a half hours, then took a metro and a bus, and soon we were at our apartment! (there was an elevator, thank the heavens!) Wednesday--first day in Porto! We had district counsil in the morning...

Transfers! Again!

Hello, my name is Sister Hardy and I am officially the nomad of the mission. I have once again been transferred! This time I am going way up north to the beautiful Portugues city... Porto! I am actually super duper excited! I have been hoping I would serve up north my whole mission and I have heard so much about how beautiful and old Porto is, I am so excited to explore and meet everyone! Ive heard it is a lot different in the North because there are way less immegrants from Brazil and Africa, so there is a much larger ratio of Portuguese peopl. I love portuguese people, so it is going to be awesome! I will be serving with sister Allred. I have already done a division with her and hung out with her on P-day even and she is AWESOME! She is super sweet. She has less time on the mission than me, but that is becoming more and more common these days... I will do 11 months tomorrow. Uncomfortably close to a year. I dont want my mission to last forever, but I do feel like it is goin...

New Beginnings

Image
Olá minha família!   So at the beginning of the week I was given something by another sister called the "Ricciardi Letter." It is a missionary talking about his trainer on his mission. And man was it incredible. This trainer was a machine (ok that doesn't translate super great, but in portuguese calling someone a machine is a big compliment) he had so much love for the people and a very clear view on his role in the work of the lord. I learned a lot reading it, and I decided that I wanted this week to be a new beginning for me! I wanted to bring back that greenie fire I had at the beginning of my mission and truly enjoy the work. Never have I been so tired after a week, but it was a great week. We met with our friend Mickael who went to the temple open house, and we had planned to talk about baptism. We go in and he says to us "sisters I want to talk to you about something. Ever since the temple, I haven't been able to stop thinking about baptism" ...
