New Beginnings
Olá minha família! So at the beginning of the week I was given something by another sister called the "Ricciardi Letter." It is a missionary talking about his trainer on his mission. And man was it incredible. This trainer was a machine (ok that doesn't translate super great, but in portuguese calling someone a machine is a big compliment) he had so much love for the people and a very clear view on his role in the work of the lord. I learned a lot reading it, and I decided that I wanted this week to be a new beginning for me! I wanted to bring back that greenie fire I had at the beginning of my mission and truly enjoy the work. Never have I been so tired after a week, but it was a great week. We met with our friend Mickael who went to the temple open house, and we had planned to talk about baptism. We go in and he says to us "sisters I want to talk to you about something. Ever since the temple, I haven't been able to stop thinking about baptism" it was so cool! So we marked him for this Saturday and have been hurrying to teach him everything. I asked him how he was at church on Sunday. He told me he was anxious for next week to get here. It was so cute! He is amazing. We had divisions as well and I got to spend the day with an amazing sister. She is from Brazil but her Portugal português accent is perfect! She is an amazing missionary, I learned a lot from her. We taught a lesson together to a young man named Edgar that sister Crowder and I have been trying to get in contact with since the beginning of the transfer and it was an amazing lesson! He was paying really good attention and at the end of the lesson he started talking about new beginnings. Next time we talk to him we are planning to talk about baptism, what better way to have a new beginning than being baptised! He is a very nice young man, I have a good feeling about him. Yesterday we were both exhausted. We found 8 new people to teach this week and have been walking more than normal, and Divisions are always extra tiring, so we were basically stumbling around Leiria. But we had an appointment that afternoon and so we went to meet with this woman. We sit on her couch and I was so sleepy, but I looked at her and I remembered that she was a precious daughter of God who needed to hear our message, I couldn't just throw out a mediocre lesson. It needed to be good. So we did. We taught one of the most powerful, spiritual lessons that I have ever been in on my mission. I started to cry during the first vision, and she did too. It felt so good, and reminded me why I am here. Not to spit out information at people, but to help them feel the spirit, to help them know how much God loves them. In zone conference one transfer president had this phrase that he told us that is now one of my favorites. When you are explaining a doctrine, use the phrase "por causa do grande amor de Deus." "because of God's great love for us." I just love it so much! It is so true! Everything we have, everything that has happened, every commandment we are given is because of God's great love for us and his desire for our success and happiness. I am so grateful for Him! Love you all! Until next week!
