Back in Barreiro

Image
I knew it was going to be weird going back to my old area, but man, this is TRIPPY! But I love it so much! This week has been one of the best on my mission! They took the elders completely out of Barreiro and put us in so we are basically starting from scratch while also continuing the work that they did.   Anyway, Tra sfers happen and we head out for Barreiro, two sisters, 6 giant suitcases. That was crazy. There were many angels in our path who helped us with our bags getting off and on metros and boats and walking up big hills. Finally we made it to our house and up the four flights of stairs and were home! Then the real work begun! We worked our tails of this week and we just kept finding friend after friend, old friends from when I was here before, and new friends to teach as well! It's been awesome! Anyone remember Celina? The less active we visited when I was last here? Well she has returned to full activity (she taught the lesson in relief society!) and she said...

I'm back baby!

Transfers came around once again... And I am going to back to Barreiro! I closed it, and now I get to open it back up again! Technically it's a whitewash, but I was there like 6 weeks ago, so... But, I am so excited! I will be serving with a Sister Stalder. She actually slept at our apartment once this transfer before leadership counsel, so I have already met her! She is super cute. This will be her third transfer so I will be doing what's called a "greenie break." should be fun! I am so excited to see the members again and get back in touch with all my friends there who we were teaching, and I am excited to find many more! It will be an adventure, every transfer is, and I like it that way. This week was full of service projects and exchanges, and I don't really have a specific cool story to share about this week. Sorry. But even though maybe we didn't experience some great or grande miracle this week, we definitely saw the Lords hand in our lives. Someti...

Pray: He is there

Our week started off with a surprise! We had district council on Tuesday and we showed up super early because I made a cheesecake the night before, but discovered that our oven doesn't work so we had to go and cook the crust at the church before so it would have time to set in the fridge. Then some elders called us and asked us if we had medicine for headaches, so we ran back to our house to get some. On the way back to the church a car door opens in front of us and out steps sister Fillmore! It took me a second to realize who it was, we weren't expecting to see her! President was there too of course, they had just decided to stop by and join our district council and didn't tell anyone! I chose the right day to make cheesecake lol! It was cool to have him there and hear his insights as each companionship took a turn talking about one of our friends and a challenge each were facing. We had an exchange planned for after too and so president gave us a ride to the sis...

Baptism by Fire

Minha nossa, it is HOT! Almost every day this week was up in the 90° and everyone says it's just gonna get hotter! Thus the title. I feel like I am starting to understand the heat of the refiners fire a little bit! But no level of heat will stop the missionaries! We can still be found riding busses (not air conditioned of course) and walking, walking, walking! There was a moment this week when I really realized the craziness of the situation when we had rode a hot bus for 20 minutes not counting the 15 it was stopped because it was literally too hot and the bus driver was worried, walked an additional 20 minutes on a road looking out on the city with no buildings or trees to block the sun, finally reached the gate of the woman we had an appointment with and her doorbell doesn't work. We call and she doesn't answer. We call again. No answer. We were not about to just walk back after going all this way and we were both hot sweaty and pretty uncomfortable, so we deci...
