Miracle alert!
Ok, I didn't do one of those daily journal things this week (sorry mom!) I totes forgot. But MAN did we see some miracles this week! It was awesome! Starting with the coolest. Ok. You ready? We did a contact several weeks ago on the street, but it was cut awkwardly short because we saw our bus and had to run to try and catch it. We gave him our card and told him to call us. We ended up missing the bus anyway and we were bummed, but the same kid ended up walking past the bus stop, so we decide to finish the contact. We came up and he showed us that he had actually been typing in our number to call us as he was walking! So we got his number and told him we'd get in contact. Then we didn't. We got super busy with tons of appointments every day, and didn't have time to think of much else. Until Saturday. Sister Allred decided to do the thing where we send messages to everyone inviting them to church again. And so she sends one to this young man, and unlike pretty much anyone else, he answers and says he wants to come! We set up a time and place to meet and he was there waiting for us the next morning! We went to church and he loved it!
A lot of the testimonies talked about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon, so we decided that left all of us in a good spirit and mindset to teach the first lesson about the restoration. So after church, we taught it and he understood it better than almost anyone else I taught! He basically taught us what prophets were and he totally understood the significance of the First Vision! I felt for some reason that we should invite him to be baptised. Never have I (successfully) invited someone to be baptised in the first lesson, but I did it, and he accepted!!! And he was super pumped! We told him about institute and the activity on Saturday and he was telling the members he would see them next week! It was incredible! He literally just walked into the church without any incentive and now he is going to be baptised. I have never met any one so prepared and open. It was amazing. Ok. That was the miracle.
The other miracle is that this week we met almost all of the goals we made! That is very rare, because we always try to set goals to stretch ourselves, and this week we met most and even exceeded some! Sister Allred and I had both been sick at some point in the week, so we are both in awe of the power of the Lord and his hand in this work. I feel so honored to be here and be able to see the miracles he is working and even take part. It is such a blessing. There were many other blessings this week. Amazing people we met, and spiritual experiences we had. Sister Allred and I are learning so much from each other. We are very different, and because of that at least one thing I have learned is that differences don't have to separate us, they can, in fact, unify us. I am grateful for her and her patience with me! I hope all of your weeks are wonderful and you can see all the little miracles God is working in your life. I love you all! Thank you for your support and love.
God knows and loves each one of us. And that includes you. He is aware, he cares. Christ is by our side. Have you ever thought about the part in 3 Nefi where Christ is praying for the people? I think that is so interesting. Christ, the king of kings, on the right hand of God, is praying for us. What more powerful prayer could there be.
Until next week!
Sister Hardy
Though a week of miracles we didn't take many pictures.
Here is me with my broken umbrella and some grafiti that says "today is a good day" and it was! Also a picture of a store that I saw that made me think of Grandma Madsen! It says "Sandra's little store" and advertises jewelry, sewing service/tailoring and ironing services! I thought it was super cute and right on the nose. Love you Grandma!
