Week one/seven
Monday - so pday. Normal. Then afterwards we had an appointment with an irmã who gives these fancy foot massages that are supposed to really help with a variety of health problems. There is a sister in another area who has been really struggling sleeping so we did a division and I went with her to meet this irmã. She was so excited, she has truly been suffering. She is visibly exhausted. We get there and knock and knock and call and call and she isn't there. This sister was a good sport and suggested we go do contacts or something, but I could see how disappointed she was. She is a super great missionary. She has either trained or been an STL literally her whole mission and she works super hard, but she was dying. So I forced her to go back with me to our house and we did a relaxation exercise and then covered her up with basically all the blankets in our house and we slept. We decided to make the division overnight because I didn't want to make her get up and leave when she was finally resting a little. She said that that was the first night in a long time where she had slept almost all night. I felt bad we couldn't get her that massage, but at least she got a good night's sleep!
Tuesday - So today we switched back companions, but then some sisters more up north's house didn't have water or electricity so they came down to our area to spend the day and the night. It was actually perfect because we had more appointments than we could possibly do alone. We split up and we went out and worked! We got a lot done and it was an awesome day! It was fun to have 4 sisters in our tiny house too! Though we were short on pillows and blankets... Lol
Wednesday - this was a good day for work, we got a lot done cleaning up our area book. Then in the afternoon we stopped by a member and she was at home and somehow whipped up a full on tea party in a matter of minutes! Complete with fancy tea pot, matching tea cups, and little finger snacks. It was like magic. I have discovered a love for tea here on the mission. (the herbal kind of course) it is so good! Mint and chamomile are go to's and then I discovered this loose leaf kind that is really good! I don't even know what it is exactly.... And then to top of an awesome day we finally got invited to ward counsel! Yay! It was the first time in about 6 months the missionaries have been invited! We are gaining trust! It's awesome!
Thursday - today was great! We had a great lesson with one of our friends and she accepted a baptismal date! We are very excited for her! We also had a family night with a less active family and we taught about missionary work and the kids were so excited! We had created a point system for missionary things they can do and when they earn a certain amount of points they get a reward! The youngest really wants a missionary tag and was so excited about the challenge! At church it was hilarious because he asked for more cards and we gave him a few and we told him we would give him more once he had given them all away. So he starts running around and handing them to the members! It was so cute! Though I don't think those will count,😂then we taught an awesome lady named P! She told us that she usually isn't really into religious things but when we contacted her she thought we were so nice she invited us back! She is super cute and seemed to be genuinely interested in what we had to share. That night there was a big game at the nearby stadium and when we were on the metro going home we were joined by 20 very very drunk Irish men. I pretended I didn't speak English, because they started trying to tell me I was pretty and I wasn't in the mood to have that conversation. They spent 5 whole minutes trying to tell me I was beautiful, but too bad for them because I don't speak English. In the end, one of them recognized we were missionaries and got super excited because he had watched 3 "documentaries" about us and asked us to "sign him up" we gave him a card and then got off the metro. It was one of my favorite experiences for sure. Lol.
Friday - this was a slower day. We had district counsil and we have a new elder, and by new elder mean a fresh new greenie. It was really fun, but the poor guy was super jet lagged and didn't understand the meeting at all. After that we had appointments, but they all canceled. So we just had a chill day getting good work done in the area book.
Saturday - we had a plan to do an area book explosion... But it didn't work out. Lol. We had tried not to mark any appointments but of course we ended up with a full day of them somehow! We had lunch with a member which was awesome! So nice to not make my own food for the first time in a few months! And they had chickens and we got to go see them and feed them grass! Then we went to a baby shower which was also very fun! They had cupcakes and sandwiches! It was truly a miracle because we were out of food... then we taught a lesson and taught English class. It was a really busy day!
Sunday - we had so many returning members in church! I got to translate for some visiting Americans too which was fun but hard. Then we went and visited a member whose wife is less active and they gave us cake and coke! It was great! And there marks the end of a great week.
