Another week! ❤️
Tuesday - today we had district council which was fun and afterward we made invites for General Conference, we gave out a ton! We offered a woman one and she refused us, so we left, and then a couple minutes later I started crying about something completely unrelated and we went to sit down close to where the woman was and she must have felt bad for me because she came over and asked for one of our invitations lol. We did some visits, ya know normal missionary stuff and then we had dinner with Bishop! It was really great! They have a wonderful family. Then we went home. There is a recent convert named F that we call every night to say a prayer because he is very lonely old man, and he hadn't answered the phone for a few days and we were really worried, but tonight he. answered the phone!
Wednesday - Today was the day of much traffic! We had a super important appointment with our friend T and we really couldn't be late, but our appointment before hers went way longer than we thought (it was with a member, she told us her conversion story, which was super cool, but in typical Portuguese fashion took about an hour to tell) so we were basically running to the bus stop! Then we waited there. And waited. The time kept passing when busses were supposed to pass and none did! Finally we cracked and called an Uber. In the end we were a half an hour late. We were really worried because last time we came late she canceled! But we got there and she let us in and we had just finished the prayer when her husband who we have never met gets home from work! We quickly invited him to join us and have a wonderful lesson! They both were paying really great attention and seemed to love the plan of salvation (I mean who wouldn't!) it was cool. A real miracle, God wanted us to show up late!
Thursday - after studies and lunch and all that we went to visit less actives that live kinda far away. It was a good length bus ride to get there... And no one was home until the last one. We went in and she had the TV guys there so we ended up sitting on her bed and talking to her son for a bit (the house was basically one room and so their beds were also their couches) until the TV guys left. We sat down to share a message and she shared her conversion story with us. It was really cool! She is Portuguese, so we shouldn't have been surprised when her story lasted an hour though! We shared a quick message, and then we had to leave because it was going to take an hour to get back into town for our English Class. Our bus was super late though and we were going to be late to class. I texted the Elders and asked if they could start the class for us. (they are both from countries that don't speak English). Then our bus STILL didn't come! Eventually, it rolled up. We were a solid 15-20 minutes late to English class, we rushed in, but we shouldn't have been worried! Elder Souza was in there doing a great job! I ended up just letting him finish the class! I just was up there to help with pronunciation and to help out with some of the grammar, but it went really well! At the end Sister Allred and I had thought of a game to play where we hid something in the chapel and then gave the students directions in English and they had to go find the thing! It was fun and everyone seemed to enjoy it. In the end we invited everyone to General Conference and they all left. And that was the end of our day!
Friday - We planned today to head to a place in our area that is far away and hard to get to, because we have a lot of people there. We went, and we passed by some people, then we had plans to meet with a member and go with him to visit some people. (he is super awesome!) He goes every Friday on visits to the less actives in that area. Apparently, a while back there used to be a chapel and a ward in this area, but then for some reason there weren't enough active members anymore so they merged it with the nearest ward. We have a handful of really active members in that area, wouldn't it be cool if someday it became its own ward again?! We have been going to this area a lot recently, so we are doing what we can! But it is far away and hard to get to, and this week so far was the week of late busses. We decided to head out early for home, which ended up being inspired because we sat at the bus stop for an hour waiting. The schedule had two or three busses passing, but none did. Finally, we walked to a different bus stop hoping that more busses would pass there. After we walked there we noticed an entourage of old ladies who had also been waiting who followed us! They were all very disgruntled and grumpy that the bus hadn't come and were complaining very loudly. We watched as our bus many times went up the other side of the road and come back down saying it was "not in service." the ladies kept getting louder and louder, until finally it came. We piled on and the ladies found their seats and everyone was happy again. We ended up getting home right at 9h30.
Saturday - today we finally got to study! This week has been so busy we have been struggling to fit in all our studies. It was wonderful. All of our appointments canceled which was a bummer but also a blessing because I had started feeling really sick to my stomach. I got to lay down for a little while and felt much better afterward. Then we headed to watch General Conference! Yayayayay! We were hoping to watch in English because, though we speak Portuguese, so much effort goes into understanding it is hard sometimes to learn a ton. But someone changed the computer password and none of the members of the bishopric knew what it was! So we ended up watching for a little while in Portuguese before finally figuring out how to watch it on our phones. It was amazing! I learned so much and felt the spirit so strong!
Sunday - Today we literally watched conference all day. We watched the women's session in the morning, went home for lunch, and then we watched yesterday night's session. (do to the time change the second session starts at 9pm. That doesn't go well when we are supposed to be in bed sleeping at 11pm! We still need to do quite a bit of catching up. The time change makes stuff WIERD. We still need to finish up yesterday's sessions, though we have heard they were awesome! We were exhausted though, eve. Though we just sat being spiritually nourished all day! We crashed!
We didn't take many pictures this week. Sorry. I'll see what I can find.
-Me buying diet coke. Don't worry, it was a special treat and lasted me a full week. Not going to repeat in the near future.
-we took more videos than pictures so I'll send those on Facebook messenger.
