Time is Running Out
Oh. My. Gosh. Conference was incredible!!!! The week leading up to conference was the longest week ever and all of us missionaries could hardly wait! It felt like the days leading up to Christmas when I was 7 years old! We all expected some more big changes, but I think that God wants us to get settled and improve with the adjustments that have already been made. Ministering was a big focus I noticed, that is something I am planning on really focusing on when I get home. Our Sunday we hardly left the chapel because we couldn't watch the second session because we needed to be at home (the second session starts at 9 here!) so Sunday we caught up on the previous session and had lunch with a bunch of members! I still need to finish the yesterday afternoon session!
This was a good week. Honestly everything that happened is a fog after conference. We taught some of our friends, we taught a lesson over video chat which was really cool! we ate some delicious food with some members, we worked to prepare for the baptism coming up next week (!!!) We had a cool experience too! Every week we get a list of less actives and we are supposed to go and visit and see if they still live in those houses. We were at an apartment about to knock when a woman who lives in the apartment building came up to the door as well. We contacted her and she said we could come up to her apartment and share our message with her! So we did, and it turned out she lived in the same apartment as the less active supposedly lived! So we learned the less active didn't live there and started teaching the woman who did! If we hadn't been to that house at that time we probably wouldn't have met her! It was really cool. Oh and a funny thing happened this week! We went to eat at a members house who is from cape Verde. He made us cachupa which is basically a giant pot of corn, beans, random types of meat, and who knows what else. Another member was there as well and he is vegan. It was really funny watching them cook together, one dumping a giant bowl of animal parts into a pot and the other taking up as much space as possible making a giant salad and talking the whole time about how meat is bad for your body and the many uses of pineapple rhines. I love this member, he is the sweetest man ever, but it is so funny to be with him when anything about food is mentioned. He is the kind of vegan that shows you pictures of animal cruelty and videos of parasites in pieces of meat. At the churrasco we had a whole back there was hardly any meat and every one was really confused, but we later found out it was because this member had taken up most of the grill space with his own vegan food! Lol! He has the purest, sincerest, most loving heart though it is impossible to be annoyed with him.
OK, I just want everyone to know that I know we have a living prophet on the earth today! How grateful I am for his bold guidance. I know God loves us, His children so infinitly much. Prophets are a proof of that. Our beautiful earth is a proof of that. Our families are a proof of that love. I know Christ is my savior and my brother. He is my friend and I love him so much. I love you all too!
