New year, New area!

Olá minha familia!

So, transfers were this week and we stayed up late waiting for the call and Elder Amoah (our DL) finally called us! He started out my saying we were staying in a trio and we were so excited to be staying together, but then after a little pause he said, but Sister Hardy is leaving. It was a crazy moment. Little ol' me, a visa waiter and in training, being transfered away from her trainer and her baby area! It was the last thing we expected. But I got all packed up and on thursday we headed to transfers! My new backup trainer is Sister Burt and she is so awesome! Our area is Southfield east and its about as close to Detrout as sisters are allowed to get. Our area goes all the way down to famous 8 mile. I have yet to get a picture of me doing to gang sign, but i will before I leave! It was really hard to leave all the awesome people we were working with in Monroe, it was especially hard to say goodbye yo Dwight. But i for some reason feel the happiest i have my whole mission! The work here is really slow, but i have met so many cool people and the city is so interesting! It is an extremely diverse area, i felt so conspicuous as a little white girl walking around Kroger, and when we tract it always a little surprising when a white person opens the door! There is also a huge population of devout orthodox Jews! It was interesting to drive around on Saturday and see all of them walking around in all black with their wide brimmed hats (they arent allowed to drive on Saturdays so they were everywhere!) It is so cool to be living in such a diverse place! I love talking to the people here because they are so lively and energetic! Sister Burt and I work really well together, we have a lot of fun! Our district is three sets of missionaries and we are all in the same ward! We do servics together once a week in detroit which is super fun too! We have the AP's in our district, so we won't be seeing them a ton because of how busy they are, but they are so cool and so kind! We do a lot of walking in this area because we dont have very many miles, and I am feeling it! Its good though, getting me ready for Portugal! About Portugal, one of the perks of being in the AP's district is that they have the inside scoop! They told me at service that when i got here they got an email saying that Portuguese visas had been stopped temporarily, so that is why i am still here in Michigan! I will be here for sure all of this transfer, and will probably head out next transfer! I am so happy to finally know kindof whats going on but a little peeved they didnt tell me sooner! But all is well! I love my new area and i love sister Burt! It hasnt snowed yet so im basically in Portugal anyway! I know there is something i need to learn or do here in Michigan and i am happy to know God is over all! 2 hour church was crazy! We were all trying to get the schedule figured out, and there ended up being a 20 minute break rather than 10, but it will all work out! I am speaking next week which is crazy, i am pretty nervous, but the Lord has promised that as we are righteous we will know the words to say.

I love you all so much! I know the gospel is true! I know God knows and loves me and all of us, individually and eternally. Read the Book of Mormon! It is true! I finished it for the new year and am halfway through again, there is something new to learn every time i read it!

Love,
Sister Hardy

I am emailing off a phone again, so I am going to send pictures in a seperate email, just in case!

Ok, pics. Once again, not sure about the order, but here goes.
-We love everything that has to do with Jesus, even magazines in CVS!
-When i met sister Burt at transfers!
-Sister Burt under the crossroads for Burt and 8 mile.
-We cleaned out the nastiest of fridges at service on saturday. Look at the corner and then imagine that all over. I wish we had gotten a picture before i was half way done! We made Elder Garcia snd Elder Tanner help with the freezer. You can see the dirt on my sweatshirt, that was from carrying the fridge almost a block! Probably one of my favorite memories on my mission so far actually! We had some good laughs!
-Home sweet home.
